Manufacturing Training

Victor

Orion’s training programs have had a positive impact on the lives of hundreds of individuals over the years. A benefit that Orion receives from this is a great number of former participants who are happy to provide recommendations to others they meet who could benefit from our services. Victor first heard about Orion’s paid training through word-of-mouth. His landlord had previous tenants who had gone through the program, and recommended that Victor check into our services.

Victor started the training program in Shipping and Receiving, as he has had some prior warehouse experience. Victor was interested in learning about the CNC machines however, and requested to train in that area once he completed training in Shipping and Receiving. For the past 6 weeks Victor has been working one-on-one with a mentor on swing shift learning how to operate the CNC machines.

“I’m excited to be able to learn about the CNC machines,” Victor shared. “My mentor has many years of experience and knowledge that he is sharing with me. Getting the chance to run the machine myself, and learn all about it, is amazing!”

In addition to receiving training in Shipping and Receiving, and in CNC machines, Victor also took Orion’s Shop Math class where he learned valuable skills to help him improve his abilities operating the CNC machines.

Orion is helping me get the industry experience I need. I know that with what I have learned at Orion, my technical skills are going to be there. Most importantly I learned that I can have fun doing a good job!

“Orion took me into the training program with zero experience in manufacturing,” Victor explained. “Orion is helping me get the industry experience I need. My job developer is helping me seek out employers, and with the whole process. I know that with what I have learned at Orion, my technical skills are going to be there. And now I know I can keep learning. Most importantly I learned that I can have fun doing a good job!”

Victor, who is also Orion’s Worker of the Month for October 2019, is interested in being a machinist, hopefully in the aerospace industry.
